Seven dead in wrong-way Illinois interstate crash

Wrong Way Driver Causes Wreck That Kills a Total of Seven in Fiery Two Vehicle Crash including a mother and her four children, leaving only the father as a survivor.

According to authorities, the crash happened at 2:11am on Sunday, when a 22-year old driver heading the wrong way on I90 near milepost 33 collided with another vehicle driving the proper direction.

The adult victims are listed as Jennifer Fernandez, the 22-year old wrong way driver, and 31-year old Lauren Dobosz, who was a passenger in the other vehicle. The 5 deceased children ranging in ages from 5 to 13 were not publicly identified by authorities.

Thomas Dobosz, the 32-year-old man who was driving the car traveling in the correct direction, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, authorities said. He was married to the deceased in his vehicle, Lauren Dobosz. They were parents of four children whom perished and the fifth child who died was believed to be their oldest child's friend.

Authorities do not know at this time why Ms. Fernandez was driving in the wrong direction. Tests for drugs and alcohol generally take several weeks in such cases.
