The Chicago Tribune is reporting that a 56-year old man used his firearm to thwart a robbery in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, near Arthington Street and Kilpatrick Avenue Monday morning.
CBS-2 Chicago reports that just before 6 a.m., police said the 56 year old victim, who works nearby, saw a car with at least three people inside pull up next to his, with at least one person exiting the vehicle with a gun drawn. The demand was then to give up his possessions when a struggle ensued and the conceal and carry individual drew his weapon and fired multiple shots at his assailants, striking two of them.
The driver of the vehicle was shot in the head and taken to a local hospital in critical condition, while a passenger was shot in the shoulder.
It is still unclear if the person who allegedly initially brandished the weapon was one who got hit or if they got away unscathed.
