Former IL Secretary of State Jesse White has endorsed Paul Vallas for mayor of Chicago.

The run-off election will be held on April 3, 2023 to decide the next mayor of the nation's 3rd largest city after Mayor Lori Lightfoot lost in her bid to be re-elected. Lightfoot's loss was the first loss of an incumbent Chicago mayor since Jane Byrne lost to Harold Washington in the 1983 contest.

The two candidates for the 2023 mayor's race could not be more different, despite both wearing the Democratic label. Vallas has the endorsement of the CPD FOP and is promising to get tought on crime, which has been an issue at the forefront for Chicago since the Covid-19 pandemic.

His opponent, City Commissioner Brandon Johnson wants greater police accountability, and has pledged to attempt to address the root causes of violence, with a focus on education, jobs, housing and mental health, versus long prison sentences.
