Breaking News: Possible Shooting in Niles Near Skokie Sunday

Sirens were heard in the area in the 5:15ish time frame and the police vehicles were seen as we went eastbound approximately an hour later.

The scene had no less than 6 Niles police vehicles, along with yellow police crime scene tape wrapped between several trees in front and also in front of the local GameStop, inside the strip mall on Touhy.

Two people interviewed for this story stated they had heard a shooting had happened earlier, at roughly the same time the sirens were heard earlier. Car were not being allowed to drive thru or park in front of this section of the mall for a couple of hours while police conducted their investigation. People were allowed to patronize the local stores that were still open, notably Jersey Mike's.

This reporter asked a Niles officer for any details, but those details were declined.

The crime scene tape was taken down and cars were allowed to drive thru the area once again at close to 7:30pm.
