The fire apparently occurred in a parking lot to the north of the 4 million square foot manufacturing facility in Normal, IL, according to information released to Reuters by the Normal, IL fire department.
The assembly plant was unaffected by the external parking lot blaze, which remains under investigation.
Rivian did not disclose the number of vehicles or the exact models which were damaged, or how many were only partially damaged versus completely destroyed by the fire.
