WGN9 has reported that 3 people lost their lives in a fiery crash in Woodstock Sunday afternoon.
According to WGN9, the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District said its personnel, along with deputies from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the 13400 block of Davis Road just after noon to investigate reports of a multi-vehicle crash involving entrapment.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found one of the vehicles fully engulfed in flames.
While firefighters worked to prevent the vehicle fire from spreading to a nearby wooded area, additional crews worked to free a minor trapped inside a silver SUV as a result of the crash. The minor was seriously injured and flown via LifeNet to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to investigators. No word on the minor's condition as of now.
Officials said after the flames were extinguished, two people were found inside the black Dodge Challenger Demon, and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lincoln SUV was also pronounced dead at the scene.
No word on what caused the accident as authorities investigate the scene further.
