A Chicago man, Peter Swenson, is accused of driving under the influence and causing a fatal crash in Oak Lawn early Tuesday morning.
Police were called to a crash near Southwest Highway and Cicero Avenue at about 3:08 a.m. Tuesday, according to news reports.
The crash occurred near Southwest Highway and Cicero Avenue, where Swenson's vehicle struck another, killing the driver and seriously injuring a juvenile passenger.
The deceased has been identified as Eglin Manuel Castro Alvarez, of Midlothian.
His daughter, 7 years old, suffered critical injuries, including rib and spine fractures and lung
trauma.
Swenson, 19, has been charged with felony reckless homicide, aggravated DUI, and DUI causing death, with his first court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, where he was granted pre-trial release by the judge overseeing the case in Bridgeview.
Swensen's next court date is January 16, in Bridgeview.
