Breaking News: According to authorities, a Glenview Police Officer has died from injuries sustained in an early Tuesday morning crash in Barrington.
Officer Robert Fryc, 43, who had worked for the Glenview Police Department since 2007, was involved in a 2-vehicle crash at around 4am on Northwest Highway in Barrington.
According to investigators, 23-year-old Christopher Lopez was driving northwest on Northwest Highway Sunday morning when he veered into the southeast-bound lanes, hitting Officer Robert Fryc's car.
Lopez has been charged with reckless homicide in the crash and is expected to be in a Rolling Meadows courtroom Tuesday for an initial detention hearing.
Officer Fryc was 43 years old, and served in the Glenview Police Department for 18 years.
He was recently recognized for his heroic efforts and helping save one of his fellow officers.
