CFD Capt. David Meyer Died in the Line of Duty Last Week and was honored with a ceremony in both Norwood Park and Niles today.
The rememberance of Capt. David Meyer's casket was held at St. John Brebeuf Church, on Harlem Avenue in Niles today.
Hundreds were in attendance including CFD and CFD as well as fire departments from other communities as far away as Lyons, as well as hundreds of spectators, reporters and high school students from Notre Dame who lined Harlem Avenue.
I spoke with a co-worker of Mr. Meyer, Captain Frank Walsh who worked with Captain Meyer for 2 years and said Meyer was a great fireman who also had a great sense of humor and was 100% dedicated to his job, team & family.
Mr. Meyer left behind 4 children and a wife.
