Niles Police Investigate Local Residential Break-In

Image

Niles police were on scene in
the 8100 block of Oconto Avenue in Niles this evening around 6pm
investigating a break-in, using forensic techniques like analyzing
camera footage, looking for footprints, fingerprints and used a bagged
chemical substance on a piece of possible evidence on the front lawn.

Niles
police were checking neighbors' Ring cameras for possible video footage
of the suspects, who used two vehicles, including a white Jetta to
block the driveway while they attempted to steal items from the garage.

The
home had it's garage broken into and possibly the home itself may have
been breached as well. The particular address will not be given out due
to privacy considerations for the home owners & their relatives.

The
MO of the burglars seems to be they knock on doors to ascertain if
anyone is home, then use two vehicles to block the driveway while they
check the garage for items to be stolen as well as if the home can be
breached for further theft.

As of the writing of this article, it's not known if the Niles PD has any viable leads or suspects at this time.
