East Maine School District 63 Removing Mask Mandate
East Maine School District 63 is lifting it's mask requirement for students & staff, effective Tuesday, February 22.
This decision comes in response to the decision by the Illinois Legislature Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) to veto the extension of the Illinois Department of Public Health's emergency rules mandating indoor masking in schools.
This decision means that staff & students are not required to wear masks while in District 63 buildings as of the effective date.
The District is also awaiting for the appeal on the States' appeal of the TRO recently issued by a downstate IL judge that barred districts within the lawsuit from enforcing Covid mitigation policies such as wearing masks in schools.
