WGN-TV 9 is reporting that Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot is standing firm on police scanner encryption after calls from media to reconsider.

The city will make scanner traffic available only on a 30-minute delay, not live. Lori Lightfoot says that’s to protect officers and keep radio lines clear.

Some media organizations say the public has a right to monitor activity in real-time.
