Stolen Phone Tracks Suspects With Guns, Fake Cards Chicago & Des Plaines P.D.
Breaking News: Two Chicago men are in custody following an investigation into an incident earlier this week involving guns and fraudulent credit cards.
Torrence K. Reese, 25, of Chicago, is accused of felony aggravated fleeing and eluding, obstructing a peace officer, improper use of registration of certificate of title, and two traffic violations.
Tajoris K. MIller, 29, of Chicago, is accused of felony identity theft, obstructing a peace officer.
Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Jefferson Street at 12:20 p.m. Monday to assist the Chicago Police Department in the apprehension of suspects in a strong-armed robbery in Chicago. Chicago police had tracked a phone taken in the robbery to the location, where the suspects were believed to be armed and in a stolen black Audi Q8.
Police saw the car traveling westbound on Jefferson Street, before it turned northwest onto Miner Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the car, which they say was being driven by Reese. The car stopped briefly on Miner Street, where police say Miller, who was exiting a building in the area, entered the rear seat of the Audi.
Police said the car then quickly attempted a U-turn to flee from the traffic stop and collided with a marked squad car. An officer driving the squad car sustained minor injuries following the collision. Police said the duo then fled on foot before being apprehended after a short foot pursuit.
Inside the stolen car, police found a .40 caliber handgun loaded with an extended magazine, a stolen 9 mm handgun also loaded with an extended "drum" magazine, or high-capacity, magazine.
Police also recovered several fraudulent credit cards and identification cards bearing Miller's photo with different victims' names.
