Chicago Hit And Run Ejects One Already Dead Passenger

In a macabre scene straight out of Halloween, a stolen Kia rammed into a hearse with a dead body inside a casket in Homewood on Friday morning.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 183rd Street and Kedzie Avenue involving a recently stolen Kia and a white Cadillac funeral hearse, and said a casket with a body inside was ejected from the hearse.

Homewood police have stated that their preliminary investigation indicates the Kia was being driven southbound on Kedzie at a high speed when it collided with the hearse being driven east on 183rd Street. Police say three people ran from the Kia, but only one was located and taken into custody.

The body did not eject from the casket, although the casket did eject from the hearse. The driver of the hearse was injured enough to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No word on if the one person caught who fled from the Kia has named names on the others involved in the collision.
