A United Airlines Airbus A320 jet was forced to abort it's takeoff after an engine caught fire during takeoff at O'Hare Tuesday, according to media reports.
The incident happened at approximately 2pm Tuesday at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, when United Airlines (UAL) flight 2091 was forced to terminate it's takeoff due to the emergency, the FAA has reported.
A passenger on the flight captured the incident with their cellphone, which showed black smoke billowing from one of the plane's engines as it attempted to takeoff from O'Hare.
During the emergency, the FAA temporarily paused all incoming flights to O’Hare. Operations returned to normal at 2:45 p.m., the FAA confirmed.
United Airlines said they were working with passengers to make alternate travel arrangements and no word on what caused the engine to catch fire or how long the jet will be out of service due to this incident.
No injuries were reported and the plane returned to the gate safely after the aborted takeoff attempt Tuesday.
