Prosecutors said between Jan. 1, 2021, and May 27, 2023, Molina-Acevedo sexually abused the victim, whose gender or identity will not be released to the public.
Molina-Acevedo
must serve at least 85% of the sentence and a term of mandatory
supervised release of three years to life, and he must also register for life as a sex offender, according to prosecutors.
In a statement, Assistant State’s Attorney Morgan Wilkinson said, "Thank you to the multidisciplinary team at the Kane County Child Advocacy Center—especially Investigator Ruzevich, whose hard work allowed us to secure this conviction without putting the child through the trauma of testifying against their abuser, and Child Advocate Cali Stephenson.
Most importantly, thank you to the Victim in this case for demonstrating tremendous bravery in telling what happened to them, ensuring it won’t happen to anyone else."
