FOX32 Digital Staff is reporting that the suspect faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery to a police officer and drug possession with intent to sell.
The details on the incident are as follows:
Officers responded to a 911 call, to which police responded to at 3:10am Tuesday in the 1400 block of 19th Street of a woman being potentially shot. Officers arrived and initially received no response. After several minutes, Adrian Olivares opened the door and confirmed his 24-year-old girlfriend had been shot.
Police could see the woman with a gunshot wound to her upper torso and attempted to make entry to the address to render aid. They were met with resistance by Olivares, who allegedly struck an officer, rendering that officer temporarily unconscious. Other officers then took the suspect into custody.
Detectives later obtained a search warrant for the home and found three guns, two of which were reported stolen, as well as a fired shell casing, cocaine packaged for sale, 12.8 pounds of cannabis and Xanax. Police said no one in the home was legally allowed to possess firearms.
The charges Olivares is facing are as follows:
One count of aggravated battery to a police officer causing great bodily harm.
Two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer.
One count of possession of cocaine with intent to sell.
One count of possession of cannabis with intent to sell.
One count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
One count of reckless discharge of a firearm.
Three counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
No word on if Olivares has retained legal counsel or when his first court date is, when it will most likely be determined if he will be granted pre-trial release or be held in jail on bail or if bail will be denied.
