Carjacking Suspects Drown After Jumping into Calumet River To Elude Police
According to Chicago Police, 2 carjacking suspects died after jumping into the Little Calumet River following an armed carjacking Saturday morning at approximately 4:30am.
The vehicle carjacked was a white Rolls Royce which Illinois State Police began to track after the reports of the carjacking came in at approximately 4:30am Saturday.
The suspects then got out of the Rolls Royce and jumped into a black Infiniti, which ultimately crashed after a chase, resulting in three suspects being arrested and two suspects jumping into the Calumet River in an effort to avoid arrest.
The bodies of the two were later found at 5:10am. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that they were identified as 27-year-old Amos Gibson and 21-year-old Curtis Hicks by the local medical examiner. An investigation into the incident is underway.
