Maine East School District 63 has issued a press release in which they address rising COVID-19 rates within the district.
The district states that within the week of May 2-6, there were 77 reported cases, up from just 14 cases four weeks ago, as well as multiple outbreaks in several classrooms.
The press release issued included the following points:
With 15 school days left, we want to let you know how D63 is responding.
- We are strongly encouraging students and staff to wear masks in our buildings, which helps reduce the spread of the COVID.
- Testing continues weekly in all of our schools - and more frequently when recommended by the Cook County Department of Health.
- The District also conducts twice weekly outbreak testing when warranted.
- We continue to follow IDPH rules for exclusion from school due to COVID-19.
